Guest Bathroom

You can enter the guest bathroom from the Chinese bedroom or the French bedroom.  Both sides have matching doors.  These gorgeous antique doors are over 200 years old and came from Venezuela.  They are impressive, both by their size and beauty.  However, the fascinating part of the doors are the large shutters that open and close on both sides of the door.

Through the doors you enter into another world.  You are in China, or is it Indonesia?  Unquestionably Asian.  This bathroom has a relaxing Zen quality, definitely fung suag.  Beautiful octagonal tile graces the floor.

The ceiling has been done in real Bamboo purchased from Indonesia.  The center of the room holds a remarkable antique deco light fixture.

On the south wall is an antique Chinese Ladder Cabinet.

In China most of the houses are very small.  A sleeping loft is built above the living quarters.  A normal stairway takes up to much room.  Instead, a Ladder Cabinet is used.  It works as steps to go up to the loft as well as giving storage, utilizing the cabinets and drawers built into the ladder.  Here, this antique Ladder Cabinet is perfect to use as a wonderful decorative item and makes a great linen cabinet.

Next to this is the sink cabinet which is also a Chinese design.

This sink is not an antique but was designed with an Asian flair.  It works beautifully in this romantic Asian room.

The other side of the room holds the toilet area and the bath tub.

The toilet is a Kohler Peacekeeper toilet.  This commode is designed to keep ladies happy.  It flushes by putting the seat down.  No more bad experiences for ladies here.  This is in a little cove by itself, open and yet private.

The bathing area is designed to be the ultimate place to relax.  The tub surround is not only beautiful, it is calming and is very apparent that this would be an ideal place to sink into a deep bath for relaxation.  The bathing area is on the north wall.

Two graceful steps lead you to this delightful tub.  On either side of the steps stained glass has been inserted.  Lights have been put behind the stained glass.  These are wonderful nightlights or add romance when so desired.

In the first picture above, notice the Kohler Bath filler on the left.  There is also a hand shower put in the center of the tub.  Great for washing hair or cleaning the tub.

Walls surround the tub on three sides.  The west wall embraces a lovely fireplace to add warmth on a cold winter night or just for ambiance when desired.  It is situated here so one can take a leisurely bath, enjoying the enchantment all fireplaces bring.  How relaxing!

To the left of the fireplace, are small see-through shelves built into the wall.  This is a perfect area to place candles, or favorite items, or how about a misting lamp?  When turned on, mist gently rolls out of the lamp and down the wall.  Fascinating to watch, they have an almost hypnotizing effect, easing all the tension from your body.  As the mist dissipates. so does the cares of the world.  Another element in this pleasurable room designed to ease the tensions of the world and to enhance the feeling of renewal.

The north wall has a large window from which the bather can enjoy the sky, clouds and birds or, at night, the brilliant stars.  The stars seem so much brighter here, where they are not in competition with harsh city light.  No man made light will invade this space and hide the soft dancing lights from the sky.  What a way to enhance the mood.

And the tub itself!  What a tub.  The tub is a Kohler Soaking Tub specifically designed for relaxation.  When it’s filled all the way to the top, the water runs over the side, and comes back into the tub again, through small little holes that produce tiny bubbles that caress the body.  Designed to relax, it accomplishes what it was designed for.  Filling the tub is interesting since the water comes out of the wall from a Kohler Bath Filler.

A can light has been placed above the bathtub so one can read while enjoying this delightful bath.

Now, close your eyes and visualize stepping into this tub filled to the brim, and running over, with warm fragrant water.  You sink down until the water is so high it comes up to your neck.  Lay your head back and relax.  Tiny bubbles are running gently around your body, forcing, in a tender way, your body to relax.  Your body is being embraced and massaged by something so gentle it’s felt more in a sensual, rather than physical manner.

The fireplace is lit and the flames perform a dance for you that is almost hypnotic.  The mist, containing a gentle aroma, is rolling down the shelves like something from an old familiar movie or like fog, mysterious, sinuous, mystifying.  The stars outside the window seem so close you could reach up and touch one.  Calming, relaxing, soothing, peaceful.  This is not a bath, it’s an experience.  And, since it’s in your home, you can enjoy the experience anytime you desire.  You better be careful.  Your guests may never leave.

No "normal" shower can adorn this place.  Instead, in the center of the tub, hanging from the ceiling is a lovely chandelier rain shower.  Made of brass, it looks more like a decoration than a showerhead.  Even so, when you decide to use it, you’ll find this five head rain shower is powerful enough for an invigorating shower, while, at the same time, giving a delightful feeling to your skin.

Channdelier Rain Shower

A specifically designed, specially made curtain rod, in brass, surrounds the tub area, to keep bathing water from splashing beyond where it should be.  It, in itself, is an added addition to the beauty of this space.

An in-wall ironing board with a mirror door has been placed here for the convenience of the two rooms this bath adjoins.

Now it's time to close the shutters on the exquisite doors that grace this phenomenal nourishing private spa retreat.

Ok, time to relax.  Excuse me please.
